Aerosmith Cancels Woodstock Concert

ROME, N.Y. (AP) ‹ Aerosmith, one of the main acts scheduled to perform at Woodstock '99, has canceled its appearance at the rock festival because of scheduling conflicts.

The band ‹ Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer ‹ said Wednesday it regretted the inconvenience to its fans and apologized to those who already had purchased tickets to the concert.

``What it came down to was scheduling conflicts and logistical problems with other gigs,'' said Ilene Marder, spokesperson for Woodstock '99.

Aerosmith becomes the second headliner to cancel because of scheduling problems. Last month, former Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck also pulled out.

Woodstock '99 will be held July 23-25 at the former Griffiss Air Force Base. More than 120,000 tickets already have been sold, and promoters expect 250,000 music lovers to attend.
