Good Morning! Here we are alive and well! So far... We just fought our way to the "press compound" this morning and it took us about 45 minutes on way. (that is the short route across this massive site) This place is just huge! There is no way to explain how big this event is. We are just walking around with our mouths open trying to understand the scope of this event.
The people here are the main attraction though. We all came for the bands, but the people are amazing. Talk about a mix of people. We have aging hippies, and teenie boppers, militant freaks, and flower children. You could actually spend all your time people watching and you would have a ball. We have already seen a million interesting things and it is only noon. We have seen the ocean and it is made of plastic tents! People are still "flowing" in and the word is that they are walking over a mile once they get in the gates and finding that they have no place to camp, so they are sleeping in the streets, on the ground, in the beer garden, whever they can find a place to crash. I feel sorry for them, but I guess they should have arrived early like us. We got here around 6:00 and we still didn't arrive at our campsite until around 10:00. People here are clueless and basically you just need to be bold and find your way. We are doing that so far...but we still need to hunt down some food, put on the suntan lotion, and ... oh yeah, upload some of the photos that we have shot so far. Hopefully we can get those up soon. We are ready to dive into the sea of people in front of the main stage, which by the way is the size of a hanger. It is huge, and to put this place into perspective if you walk into the main gate and walk in the direction of the main stage, you can't even see the stage for almost 30 minutes! I have one word for this place... MASSIVE. Back at ya soon...
