Here is my take on this article...

250,000 possible people and we are lead to believe by this critic that by going into one forum
on the Woodstock site he can begin to suggest that only a tiny minority of the postings are coming
from people who are looking forward to the event. It is pretty mind boggling that he could even
begin to make such a claim. I have personally read through most of the forums and I have seen
several negative postings or posting by people just acting their age, but the over all majority
of the postings are positive. I see concern, and I see peoples wishes, but I see very little
negative feedback about the overall concert itself.

About it being a specticle... I would agree. I hope it is! Every concert should be a specticle where
people come together and experience everything and that includes the ride to the concert, the beer
and t-shirts that you buy, the concert itself, the people watching, and the excitement in
the air after the concert and finally the ride home. Rock and roll is not just about the band
going on the stage. It is about what is in the air, the feelings that you get from it, and the
experience. Anyone that goes to a concert just for the music is lying. You go to enjoy the specticle
that is the concert.

If I wanted to listen to the music I would sit and listen to it in my car. If I wanted to look at the
musician, I would look at the album liners. If I want to experience the music I go to woodstock. If I
am old and bitter, I sit in an office and wish that I was going to Woodstock. A rock and roll show is
supposed to be part religeous experience, part political rally, part circus, and part festival. It's
not a place for people who don't understand what it is all about.

Ordinary he says.... So, if Woodstock is ordinary, what is considered exciting? Maybe he would be
more entertained if we put the bands on the space shuttle and broadcasted the festival from the moon!
God forbid each band plays for only an hour. After 4 days of music, I am sure that we will have
our fill. If they play longer, then so be it. I am not going to complain about it. I am sure
there will be enough music and good times to go around.

And in closing, what is wrong with bringing every type of music together in one place? I applaud
the organizers for bringing together such acts as Metallica, and Ice Cube. Dave Matthews and
Megadeth. This is the heart of the whole event. Different people coming together for a common
purpose. Music. Sure, the organizers are going to make a few dollars on us, but all of us attend
sporting events, circuses, zoos, concert halls, and festivals and they are all provided to us for our
entertainment and they all exist for the sole purpose of making money. Woodstock is going
to provide us with an enourmous amount of enterainment and it will surely be a sporting event,
a circus, a zoo, a concert hall, and a ethnic festival all wrapped together by one common bond of
peace, love, and music! I'll pay for that!
