Well I had an interesting time yesterday. I had
to go into our library to dig up stories (literally)
from the original Woodstock. I entered into the
library filled with dusty books and large metal file cabinets
and I asked the librarian how I could
find some original stories from Woodstock 69. She
says "oh, that is easy" and sits me down at this
huge, lunking piece of machinary that looks like
something out of Star Trek. (but from the early shows)
It has this big glowing screen and large lighted
buttons and they seem to be flickering slightly.
She explains to me that we do not have stories
in digital form from that far back and she begins
to insert this film into the ominous Trek machine.
What?
No digital? How can that be? My whole life is digital!
From the way I wake up in the morning to the way I cook my bagel
in the microwave, to the way I communicate,
to the way I keep organized, and most importantly
to the way I make a living
and the way I spend a lot of my free time,
everything is digital!
The librarian proceeds to show me how to use the machine, and
with all my technical skill, it was everything that
I could do not to pick up that 400 pound machine
and fling it across the library. Needless to say,
I did find a few stories and I printed them out in afunky negative
form, (that was hardly legible) and now I am plannig the best way to
approach our office manager and beg her to retype the stories so that I can
put them on the web. Wow. Thank god for computers.
Hope you enjoy the stories!

Chris
